Vegan Hot Cocoa Mix
Hot chocolate is a wonderful gift to give during the holidays! It's actually very easy to make at home and can even be made without using nonfat milk powder or a soy alternative.
Feel free to adorn your gifts with candy canes or wrapped cinnamon sticks the recipients can use as stirrers! You can even include a small bag of vegetarian marshmallows, if desired. You will need: 1 pint-sized mason jar 1/2 cup vegan mini chocolate chips 1/2 cup Dutch cocoa powder 1 cup turbinado sugar or evaporated cane juice Combine ingredients in a mixing bowl. Stir well with a wooden spoon. Then add contents to your jar. Don't use your hands to make the mix; the heat can melt the chocolate chips! Their instructions: For every 8 ounce cup, add 2-4 heaping tablespoons to a saucepan. Add the corresponding amount of non-dairy milk and heat on medium high heat until the chocolate chips have dissolved (5-10 minutes). Feel free to add marshmallows! Serve warm but not too hot! Use peppermint or cinnamon sticks to stir as you drink. All versions are available for $2.99. Click the icons above to be taken to checkout.
